Thomas Atmore

Biography

Tom is a shareholder at Martin & Squires and a Board Certified Civil Trial Specialist with over 33 years of trial and litigation experience. After earning a B.A. in 1985 from Colorado College, Tom went on to the University of Minnesota Law School, earning his J.D. cum laude in 1988. He has practiced law in Minnesota ever since.

From jury trials to appeals, and in arbitrations and other alternatives to lawsuits, Tom has handled hundreds of cases, helping organizations and individuals in business disputes, real estate claims, trust and estates controversies, employment claims, bankruptcy litigation, insurance disputes, ERISA litigation, and personal injury claims. His many years of experience has also resulted in clients seeking day to day advice on non-litigation matters as well, including employment investigations, business formation, and contract matters. Tom also represents Multiemployer Fringe Benefit Funds, including in collection matters under ERISA, drafting plan documents, and by otherwise providing advice and counsel.

Tom is admitted to practice before the Minnesota and Wisconsin state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota, the United State Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Tom is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Tom is also active in the legal community, serving on the MSBA Minnesota Mock Trial Program Committee, providing pro bono representation in unemployment compensation appeals, and serving on various other committees and working groups.
